Explore Aerial Retreat
Intermediate Silks, Lyra & Sling
October 10 - 19

The mermaids take flight again this fall... Calling all lifelong students and lovers of aerial, artists, and performers! Explore Aerial Retreat is geared towards those who want to take a dive into more intermediate level aerial technique, skills, and theory. It's an intentional space to tap into our unique style of movement and creativity in a non judgmental environment, to strengthen our bond with ourselves, each other, our apparatus, and to deepen our overall aerial practice from the inside, out! It's a chance to connect with aerialists from around the world, all while surrounded by the natural beauty and culture of the Mayan Riviera.
This year we are excited to provide two different experiences depending on your goals for the week, energy level and budget!
Imagine a retreat where the minute you touch down, you have a friendly community of aerialists to connect with, instant friends of a common thread and shared passion.
Imagine having a week of support meeting you exactly where you are at all week long so that you can reach for your goals during a week you've carved out just for YOU!
Imagine making your inner child incredibly happy by exploring the mermaid archetype as we put on tails and dive into refreshing cenotes!
Imagine a training space with a turquoise view of the ocean, and a spa day on our FULL rest day -midweek- after our exhaustion has peaked (properly earned of course).
Imagine not losing 2 full days on arrival and departure day because this retreat is intentionally a little longer than most to allow you to settle and drop into to absorb all the goodness that Mexico, Tulum, and your amazing hosts have to offer!

Meet Your Instructors

Sarah Patrinellis
Sarah Patrinellis is a retreat creator and facilitator, aerialist instructor, aerial performer, and yoga teacher originally from a rural river town in Northern California. Her love for adventure sports and nature leads her to live a somewhat nomadic life, and to have called some of the most beautiful places in the world home- such as Lake Tahoe, CA. and the Big Island of Hawaii. In contrast to her mutable, wanderlust lifestyle, her life’s purpose is firmly rooted in a deep-seated belief in the transformative power of movement practices, such as aerial, breathwork, and yoga. Likewise, she sees traveling as a vessel to true healing and human potential through the character-defining, real world learning that arises from new experiences in foreign places.
In 2019, she moved from Hawaii to Portland to pursue A-WOL Dance's program, FlyCo, to diversify and level up her aerial training which focused on dance trapeze, sling, lyra, duo lyra, partner acro, and contemporary dance. Currently, she teaches at 3+ studios in the Portland Metro area and loves to travel to teach workshops. Her specialties are strength-based moves and conditioning, choreography and musicality. As a yoga teacher she is trained in the Anusara tradition, and uses this same intuitive and heart-centered approach in her aerial classes to make them supportive, inspiring, and accessible. In the performance realm, she has been a freelancer since 2017, and has scaled both the corporate and creative worlds- with clients ranging from MTV Productions, Adidas, Burning Man Festival, private parties, weddings, night markets and festivals.
Sarah has led a dozen retreats that originated from her home in the South Kona jungle of Hawaii, and branched out to locations in Mexico and Guatemala pre-covid. She sees retreats as a beautifully potent week with the ability to create not only community, but ripples of positive change to bring home to our "normal" lives. In the future, she is excited to grow as an artist, explorer, instructor, advocate of the amazing aerial world. She feels that Explore Aerial Retreat is a breath of life in the aerial community, and a place where we can drop our baggage and expectations at the door. It’s a creation close to her heart, she sees it traveling far and wide!
